Open System Administration Position

TU Wien is one of the major universities in Austria, and we are one of the seven research divisions that form the Institute of Information Systems Engineering. We are hiring a part-time System Administrator (10-20h / week) to join our RUCON team ( ) financed by the FWF START project Rucon. System administrator\\\\\\\'s responsibilities include:
- Installing the Cluster system (cluster installation and configuration, cluster node setup)
- Maintenance, configuration and operation of servers
- Installing and configuring hardware components and software
- Setting up accounts and workstations
- Applying operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes
- Ensuring that the network infrastructure is up and running
- Making sure all workstations and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner

Requirements and Qualifications for System Administrator:
- Familiarity with various operating systems (experience in a Linux/UNIX server setup, deployment, and maintenance)
- Experience with networks and networking concepts (maintaining network infrastructure such as switches and routers, diagnosing problems with these or with the behavior of network-attached computers)
- Knowledge of systems and networking software, networking protocols
- Knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent
- Experience with technologies such as OpenFlow, OpenStack, SDN, Kubernetes and Docker is desirable
- No formal job experience is needed prior to making an application. However, any evidence of previous network administration or system administration experience is desirable.
- Good organizational skills, ability to solve problems quickly
- Good communication skills in English

Salary: standard personnel salaries for FWF project staff: technical specialist 40 h, gross salary per month 1,994.60.
