Creating noise maps for electric motor in EV application

Nowadays hybrid and fully electric drives have been developing in variety, power and range. One of the main NVH sources is the Electric Motor. The excitations in the Electric Motor, caused by the electromagnetic forces, excite the structure. The goal of this thesis is to create reliable noise maps, at early development stage using simulation to choose and improve the noise of electric axles in the electric car.

Task

  • Literature study
  • Electromagnetic simulation of the Electric Motor
  • Study different force harmonics and orders for best NVH
  • Analysis of the forces, torque, efficiency maps
  • Simulation based electromagnetic noise estimation and validation
  • Creating the map for the case study
  • Reporting and summarizing the methodology

Study

  • Electrical or Mechanical engineering, Technical physics

Requirements

  • Experience in electric motors is appreciated
  • Language: English or German

Remuneration

The successful completion of the thesis is remunerated with a one-time fee of EUR 2,500 before tax.
