Flexibility is becoming more and more important, the traditional 9 to 5 job has had its day and a job where you feel good is desired - no wonder that work-life balance is increasingly demanded. More and more companies are advertising a good work-life balance, including Dynatrace. We took a look at what this looks like at Dynatrace and underwent the Talto reality check.

More and more people long for a good work-life balance. For developers, work-life balance is even reason No. 1 for their own happiness as shown by the annual Developer Happiness Index 2021. Besides flexible working hours and remote work other factors influence the work-life balance as well. A good working atmosphere, very good leadership and mentoring programs and also company health initiatives contribute massively to your personal work-life balance.

Remote Work

Flexible working hours gain importance and home office models are actively demanded. What are the options at Dynatrace?
Although no one was forced to come back to the office during summer, the offices were filling up again and the teams valued the in-office work and face-to-face collaborations, which made us very happy. Now, that the COVID situation has unfortunately worsened, we are back to home office. But even that is not a problem, thanks to our flexibility. Once the overall situation allows for it, we plan to implement flexible working models:

  • Those who are more productive in the office and wish to primarily work from there have their own desk and equipment.
  • Those who are more productive in a hybrid work setup have the option to work from home. However, they are asked to spend a minimum of 2 days in the office per week. In this case workstations are shared and are booked beforehand via a hoteling software.
  • Working fully remotely is only possible for some specific roles.

Flexible working-hours

I'm not an early riser at all. Can I arrange my working hours individually?
No matter if you are a night bird or an early riser - at Dynatrace, you can work when you are most efficient. For this purpose, we have our own core and flexitime models that allow you to arrange your working hours yourself. This is particularly beneficial if you study besides your job. At Dyntrace, it is possible to arrange your working hours even more flexibly during exam-intensive times.

In addition, 30 hour or part-time jobs are also possible alongside the traditional full-time positions.

How do you handle busy times?
Extra work is sometimes necessary when individual projects require it. However, nobody will force you to stay longer, and it is always your own devision, how and when you tackle the work. We’re team players and if someone has a higher workload, we help each other out and do our best that this person can go home on time at the end of the workday too. And of course, if you work more hours, it is possible to take time off for the extra work as compensatory time.

Leadership and Mentoring Program

Good leadership is often crucial for personal development and feeling comfortable in the working environment. How do leadership and mentoring programs support Dynatracers in their work life?
At Dynatrace, you receive regular feedback from your team and your manager, which is also how your career path is planned. We are well aware that team leaders also need to be well trained - that's why Dynatrace has ongoing leadership trainings for managers and future managers. People can also sign up for the training to find out if they want to be in a leadership role in the future.

Speaking about training - is there any chance to do this at Dynatrace and can I do it during working hours?
Yes, we have a comprehensive learning platform that you can use during your working hours.

Working atmosphere and free time

It is well known that working is much more fun when there is a good team atmosphere. What can you expect from Dynatrace to support the team spirit?
At Dynatrace, we have regular team events and common lunch and coffee breaks. In addition, many take advantage of our healthcare offers such as individual health checks, yoga or use our discounts when they take part in running events such as charity runs, business runs, etc.

We really care about work-life balance. There are quite a few initiatives to support our teams in their work area or to do social initiatives in their working time. For example:

  • Women-of-Dynatrace initiative: an initiative, part of which women of Dynatrace support and exchange ideas with each other
  • Volunteer Day Off: the intention is to participate in giving back and supporting the community and to allow the employees of Dynatrace to share in that effort. Dynatracers can spend one day per year as volunteer time counting as working time
  • Mental health initiatives: Staying healthy physically and mentally is a huge priority for us. We continuously expand our offering of coaching and workshops for your mental wellbeing.

We hope that we could show a bit how we at Dynatrace help to keep the right balance in your working day. Work-life balance is not just a buzzword at Dynatrace but a lived reality. Here you can learn more about our open positions.
